To the Hiring Manager at Wieden+Kennedy,

Hi! I'm Joey, a producer, creative, and production professional with more than ten years of practical, hands-on experience in media production.

What I love to do is tell stories, and I've told a lot them... like, a lot a lot. I've even worked with you before. I've long respected your work, and I'd like to formally submit my application for the Producer position in Portland, Oregon.

To that end, I built and programmed this website from scratch to tell you a little about myself, show you some of my work, and flex both sides of my brain.

I'm currently in Los Angeles, CA

Young Joey
Blockbuster Video

I was born and raised in the San Fernando Valley, where I was exposed to production from a young age. I poured over VHS tapes at my local video store, reading the covers front to back. I can still recall vividly watching my first behind-the-scenes feature on the Lord of the Rings Special Edition DVD set. I had an inkling then that there was something calling me to this work.

At the age of 17, with no reasonable forethought, I took a train and two buses to Hollywood, driven by a desire to learn the craft. After spotting a camera crew, I asked if I could help out. The producer gave me $50 to buy gum and water, which I did. When I returned, he praised me for not stealing his money. He then tasked me with my first ever "lock-up", where I was promptly physically assaulted by a rum-drunk Jack Sparrow impersonator.

Needless to say...I was elated. In heaven. On cloud nine.

Let's dive into some of what I've done, and what I can do.

What I've Done & What I Can Do

After my altercation with Jack Sparrow, I decided this was the career for me. I committed to being the fly on the wall, the hardest worker, and acting as an absolute sponge to soak up the knowledge I knew would be essential to every project's success.

Since then, I've had the honor of working with some of the worlds most notable and beloved brands, and in that time, I've developed a practiced and deep understanding of the phases of production, with an emphasis on inter-departmental communication, budget formation and accurate tracking, project and timeline management, and creative problem solving.

Through these experiences, I've honed my soft and hard skills to accomplish that singular goal...to deliver creative visions from concept to final deliverables.

Or as we in our field often call it: Telling Stories.

My work has grown to span marketing promos, short films, documentaries, and features.

Final Remarks

If you've made it this far, thank you for reading.

All joking aside, production is the only career I've ever known, I love what I do, and I'm confident in my abilities. I truly love the work that Wieden+Kennedy produces(Dilly Dilly!), and I would be thrilled to speak with you about how I could be an impactful, thoughtful, and effective member of your organization.

P.S. Here's a photo of me and my family. My oldest daughter was born in Portland, we have family that live there, and love the city immensely!
